About Cognitive HealthTech

Built from experience.
Driven by possibility.

Cognitive HealthTech brings together lived experience, healthcare leadership, scientific research and technology to develop a more personal way of understanding cognitive change.

Our story

It started with the gaps between appointments.

Victoria Burnip, Co-Founder and CEO of Cognitive HealthTech

Victoria Burnip, Co-Founder & CEO.

Cognitive HealthTech began with Victoria Burnip, and with a question she kept returning to across two decades of working in health, social care and dementia support.

Victoria grew up close to NHS mental-health care through her mother’s work as an NHS clinical lead. Later, supporting loved ones through a range of cognitive challenges, she saw the same pattern from the other side: fragmented pathways, long waits, and assessments that captured a single moment rather than the shape of a life. Cognitive change rarely announces itself in a clinic room. It shows up quietly, in conversation, in routine, in the things people who know you notice first.

She brought that experience together with more than twenty years of healthcare, social-care and innovation leadership, including cognitive rehabilitation delivered inside NHS referral pathways. The conviction was straightforward: understanding cognitive health should be more continuous, more personal, and closer to everyday life.

Working with Professor Christian Morgner and academic partners, that conviction became a research-led behavioural framework, designed around natural interaction and individual baselines rather than one-off testing. It is an approach intended to support people and clinicians with a clearer picture over time, developed carefully and evidenced as it goes.

“I have lived the anxiety of the waiting room, the frustration of fragmented care, and the painful gaps in standard assessment pathways.”

Our journey

Evidence accumulating over time.

  1. Research foundation

Literature review and early framework development shaped the questions Cognitive HealthTech set out to explore.

  2. Academic research

Peer-reviewed work and academic collaboration continue to ground the approach in research.

  3. Framework development

Behavioural indicators and cognitive-domain structure have been refined around natural interaction and personal baselines.

  4. Data & algorithm development

Real-world data collection and AI development are informing the next stage of the behavioural framework.

  5. Healthcare engagement

Engagement with PCNs, GP practices and clinical and research communities is helping test the relevance of the work in context.

  6. Product development

Prototype, MVP and data-visualisation work are bringing the research-led approach into a practical experience.

  7. Clinical validation

Validation activity is in progress, with further work planned as the evidence base develops.

  8. Regulatory development

Governance, clinical safety and the regulatory pathway are in progress alongside product and evidence development.
