The problem doesn’t pause between appointments.

Neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions don't wait for the next appointment, but today's assessment pathways often do. Specialist shortages and rising demand mean waiting lists are lengthening and diagnoses are coming later. Data can become fragmented across a patient's journey, and care often intensifies only after diagnosis, by which point some patients may already have reached crisis, adding further pressure to a system with limited capacity for prevention or early intervention.

Cognitive HealthTech is being developed to help ease that pressure by giving clinicians additional longitudinal data and insight between appointments, creating a more holistic picture of how a patient may be changing over time. The aim is to support earlier understanding, help accelerate diagnostic pathways, contribute to performance targets and create opportunities for more efficient, proactive care.

The patient journey

How CHT helps healthcare.

  1. 01

    Clinician recommends

A clinician identifies CHT as a suitable option and recommends it to their patient.

  2. 02

    Patient gets started

The patient downloads CHT to their smartphone and gives permission for relevant audio and video interactions to be analysed.

  3. 03

    Evidence builds for referral

Over time, CHT builds a picture of cognitive performance that can be shared with the clinician as a downloadable report to support referral discussions.

  4. 04

    Ongoing monitoring

The patient continues using CHT to track cognitive patterns over time and can be prompted to seek professional advice where appropriate.

  5. 05

    Ongoing shared care

Insights can continue to inform clinical conversations through specialist assessment and ongoing care.

Healthcare traction

Building with healthcare, not around it.

Cognitive HealthTech is being developed alongside clinical collaborators through research and data activity, rather than in isolation from the services it is designed to support.

Privacy, data governance & compliance

Data that stays in the patient’s hands.

Cognitive health data is sensitive, and CHT is being developed around that principle. We have completed a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) and are working towards DTAC compliance and Cyber Essentials Plus certification.

Patients remain in control of their information and can choose to share insights directly with healthcare professionals, for example through a downloadable report.

This means CHT can support clinical conversations without requiring immediate integration into EMIS, SystmOne or other NHS record systems, while remaining open to deeper integration as the evidence base and partnerships develop.

Works alongside existing systems

Patient-controlled sharing means CHT can fit into current workflows without requiring deep NHS record-system integration from day one.
